Nice pictures.

Amazing how a little zoom will bring in background objects, like mountains.

Also familiar with the oil boom in the water. ;)

Yeah, thats the Lynx. From a distance, she has a tendency to look like the Californian. But, she has a steeper rake to her masts, and the Californian has an additional T'gallant yard on the fore.

Fellowship is a converted ex Navy Surf Boat, 26’ LOA with about a 7’ Beam.

Designed by the same guy, IIRC

Pierre, I made it to that festival on the last day and had to scurry around before everything closed. My favorites were the Ted Geary schooner, "Red Jacket", the boats from Australia, and was most impressed with the Russian tall ships.

The 'California Schooner' is actually from the east coast, BILL OF RIGHTS. At the time of the festival, she was owned by LAMI, but was sold to Puerto Rico...(a couple of times before the deal actually flew)

Sir,

Just to correct a small point of confusion. The ship in the pic is the Lynx. The schooner Californian, was designed by the same architect and its paint scheme is currently rather similar to the Lynx. The Californian is currently owned and operated by the maritime Museum of San Diego, in fact I'm crewing her this Sunday after a long drought. According to LAMI's website, they still operate the Bill of Rights or are you referring to one of the othere photographs?

As a follow-up to this thread I must mention that the "Tall Ships" Festival in Tacoma, WA was one of the best organized maritime events that I ever witnessed in the Pacific Northwest.....Seattle should learn from this event as it slowly flushes away the final vestiges of its historic maritime assets!

Great pics! How'd your boat fair in the winds this past week? Hope all is well...

Hmm, dunno if LAMI updates their website very regular; we haven't had the time since Tallships '06 to update our own!!....As far as 'paint', I just rec'd a t-shirt from Lynx Foundation showing her now with a yellow stripe, such as us......Really don't know, tho', as I'm currently a fur piece from Newport, CA....(and quite enjoying 'pirate country' here in the Carolina's..)
