The missing pic. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid46/pb1266b54f22e3325ea26972fb91e8a50/fccc4c 27.jpg (http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid46/pb1266b54f22e3325ea26972fb91e8a50/fccc4c27.jpg) shown here correctly but with an extra space before and fter the URL.

What's the construction ? Looks like a tortured ply ?

Actually, looks like regular ply - tortured builder.

Your shop is WAY too neat. See a doctor.

Thanks for fixing photo Paul first time posting photos. If you look back and find the "fancy deck" post I described the boat it was started by someone else and then had a building fall on it. I rebuilt the basic hull and that is why the plywood looks like it does. Charlie (Will post more photos as I go along.)

Here's the reason I asked. This is a model of a design that was in WB some time ago. I built the model to see what really happens when you try to force the plywood panels into a sort of a compound curve. The shape, from the bow, looks almost identical.

Looks like a Davis kayak aka. DK 13. Was in a WB issue of about '86

I do not know the origin of the original design. I have no plans and the building owner who I got it from does not remember where it came from. Any help id it would be helpful if you need measurments or other photos let me know. The curve of the deck was hard on the plywood that I had to replace it is in 4 pieces for the deck.

There you go ionbarnes. WB Issue #70, May/Jun 1986. page 57. Dennis Davis, "A Round-Bilged Hull From Plywood". Stitch and glue assembly of full length plywood panels.

Davis is/was a woodshop teacher looking for a building method that required only a minimal building form that he could move out of the way after class.

What struck me as similar was the rectangular cockpit. Davis shows it in the plans, but his example boat had a pear-shaped opening.

I hope I don't get in trouble for the shameless promotion of the Store's back issues commercial venture. ;)

A note about pic posting. You (and only you) can go back and edit your message to correct the image reference and make the picture appear.

Click on the "Edit" icon above your message, type "[IMG]", in front of the URL (where you have the "]". Click on "Preview Post" - the good pic should appear in the preview window. If it does, click on "close this window", then click "Edit Post".

Also ? Whats' the name of the town south of Horseheads NY ? ;)

Paul the town south of Horseheads would be Elmira.
Kayak on ceiling of shop for now have to pay some bills doing some millwork stuff. Will work more on learning photo posting as time goes on I think the photos make posts more interesting showing what other people are working on.

Charlie, I built a Chris Kulzycki (sp) yare which looks very similar. I found the deep v hull makes her a bit tippy, always wanting to lay on her side, short on leg room, and not too bouyant. But on the plus side the fact that it sits low in the water and is compact gives it a very sporty feel paddlling in a bit of a chop and that one with the water experience a kayak gives. I painted her tourquoise.
