I shot a video of my playing for all of my online instructors. My digital camera shoots in .mov format and it is rather large (38 meg). I downloaded Xilsoft MOV converter and it converts to MPEG but the file is still large.

Any other suggestions for free movie edititng software?

Chad YouTube Videos are limited to 10 minutes (unless you're a Director like me ;)) and 100 MB. 38MB should be no problem.

My last video was 47.9 MB after I compressed it to a mp4 file.

I don't know of any free software, but my original movie files are from a high-end Sony camera and they come down as digital AVI movies which are huge... about 2gb for 7 minutes of video.

I bought Adobe Quicktime Pro for $30, downloaded from the web. It can read movies in just about any format and let you save them in just about any other format using various compression selections. It is even smart enough to try to optimize the movie files for streaming over the internet. For $30, it offers a lot of functionality.
