okay...
so I have a 28' gaff-rigged cutter on its way across the Atlantic on a ro - ro. she has had her mast tabernacle removed due to shipping height restrictions. this is a coachroof tabernacle of galvanised steel that is well-backed (wood) and through-bolted to the coachroof (glass over marine ply). it is about 10" x 12" where it mates to the coachroof. the mast is stayed with forestay, forward, cap and after shrouds and runners. how would you recommend i bed this tabernacle? i was planning on Interlux Boatyard Bedding Compound..... would anyone use spacers as the compression force will be quite high and i worry about squeezing it all out. how about the old trick of using ribbons of cotton caulking to act as a spacer? would anyone use modern adhesives / sealants? thanks!!!
