Such a warm calm day as Marmalade and I floated with the tide. No wind till about 1400, so we just eased out with the tide in the morning and back in though the afternoon.
At one point we floated in the midst of a flock of buffalo head who seemed to fancy Marmalade a large duck - the hydrodynamics of cat boats and ducks have much in common - and were inviting us to join them in the Carolinas.
Later a seal lazed alongside.
I spent a fair amount of time draped over the bow really enjoying the odd perspective, shirt and shoes off, dozing with the sun while Marmalade picked her own way. Some of the time I think the only wind was induced directly on the sail by unequal heating of the sides.
Finally I got an honest light air (Force 1) easing to light breeze (Force 2) and could actually sail, hear the dink chuckle astern, and all that. We spent the last hourse before sunset in a gentle roll about Lewis Bay's coves and then home to the inner harbor.
