Just a post to say Hello.

I'm just starting building a Glen L 14' Sailing boat. Marine Ply over oak frames.

Winter's a fun time to build here in Ireland since it gets about 4pm, but I'm doing a Maths degree in the evenings and term runs from Feb to October, so what do you do.

I'm documenting the build as I go - on a blog - well everyone's got a blog these days.

Welcome to the forum, Rational Root. I have built a couple Glen-l boats myself. By the way, this forum is divided into categories and you have posted in the section usually reserved for caustic verbal abuse and sarcasm. You may wish to start a thread in the Building/Repair section. Good luck with your boat.

Oooooh. Rational. A word not often represented by the actions of those of us down here in the bilge. One assumes a math major has experience with the irrationals as well?

Welcome to the bilge, Rational Root.... and good luck with your boatbuilding project. I've spent a great deal of time in Ireland, by the way... 7 or 8 trips, back in the early 90's, all of them to the Limerick area... and have a colleague who keeps his boat on Loch Derg. Where in Ireland are ya?

Wecome RR! I always liked the Glen-L 14. Looks like a pretty straightforward build with a goodlooking result. Good luck with yours.

If you keep on going far enough they'll work out in the end. Honest.:)

What still cooks my cranium is when you get two seemingly unrelated irrationals that you multiply together, and come up with a rational number. Don't think about it too long or it'll start to hurt.
