Here are the latest pictures of the varnished deck of the Rascal runabout. Currently have 10 coats of Interlux Schooner. The bookmatched mahogany is more visible with the finish applied.

great job! Have you had any problem with dust on the plastic tarps? Every time I hang plastic to segregate part of my shop it seems to attract more dust than it keeps out- I've given up and now just wet down the floor and move slow.

Beautiful!

Is there a way to do those seams/stripes as "faux" - painting them . . . or something on a plywood deck?

Anyone?

You know, I assume that 3M electrostatically charges their drape somehow. It allows seems to cling to hull. Dust will be dealt with by the rubbing out and polishing process.

Seams are not painted on. There is a shallow groove +/- eighth of an inch.

Dust suppression is always an issue with the final coats. I do notice that the tarps get electrostatically charged and do attract dust, but I always considered this a good thing. Better to have the dust attracted to the tarps than settle on the boat. I do wipe the tarps down occasionally to keep them clean. I always wipe down the previous coat of varnish on the boat with mineral spirits and then wipe down the entire surface with the Interlux 333 brushing thinner prior to putting the next coat down. I use a tack cloth just prior to varnishing and I wear a Tyvek suit. I haven't sprayed down the floor because I was concerned about locally raising the humidity in the shed.
It's starting to get cold out so I think the varnishing is over. Time to start assembling all the pieces.
Still looking for a 60 HP Mercury Outboard! Hope to find one in the next 3 or 4 months.
Thanks for all the feedback
