Hello all,
After a successful posting of one of my pictures, I attempted to post some more. Following "exactly" the same procedure and format yielded no results at all! I am off to consult the gourus at the apple store next. Thank you to all that offered help. This is, indeed, too much!

Jay, I'm sorry my asking you to post pictures of your H28 has led to a path of frustration. I haven't tried to post any for a couple of years so I've held off offering advice - bad advice is worse than no advice! Maybe you could tell some yarns instead. :)

Best of luck! I've contracted for Apple, so you can send me a message and we can troubleshoot.
Bottom line is this -- a webpage is a webpage. Get whatever URL you have for the image, and paste it into the URL field on a blank webpage -- the image should display. Even better, use an alternate web browser than the one you are working in -- if you use Firefox, try viewing the image in Safari, IE or Opera. The reason for this is that browsers remember (aka 'cache') images, so one that you have previously viewed may display in your working browser that ain't really up on the web.
If it will display that way, it *should* display here. Only reasons it might not are that you've posted the image on a private/members-only web space, like the photos section of a Yahoo group or private .Mac account. A .Mac account with a public-accessable webspace might be the solution to all your needs.
I find it easiest to post mine on my personal webspace -- the space you get with nearly every ISP account. Contact your ISP and find out what settings you need to use to ftp the photos up to your account's space -- and find out if they will give you more storage space for free or a small fee while you've got 'em on the line. The best paid Mac ftp client is Fetch -- $25 at http://fetchsoftworks.com , but there is probably a free one out there also.

People always recommend using one of the free photo storage sites. Isn't it true that most ISPs gave members some free web storage?
Jay,
If you click on a photo in Imagestation and it comes up...just Control/click on the image and select opening it in another window. Once it opens in another window, just copy everything in the url except for the http:// and paste that into the image insertion box on the WB forum.
Its that simple and works every time. Photobucket works exactly the same way, just control/click on the image once its opened large...and select "open image in another window". Once opened in another window, just copy the url all except for the http:// and paste that into the image insertion box on WB forum.
I have been using an Apple for many years...presently using an Imac 20.... and have found this to work all the time.
Good luck,
RB

Jay: Here's a suggestion (now that we've solved the double-http:// problem).
Once you get your images to ImageStation, or whatever, start a word file and keep a list of your images with the associated ImageStation URLs. The format should be exactly the same for all of your images, and it will give you a chance to edit if by chance you miss something in the C & P process.
The URL should look like this :
All mages should have this part
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid (http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid)
This part identifies a particular image
211/pfe58247fb231a74854f2f328965a6f73/ed95009b
This part identifies the full image (not the thumbnail)
.jpg
On rare occasions, something happens that converts the slashes to percent signs, which the forum's linker doesn't like.

Yes, but without any of the tools that typical photo hosting sites provide for uploading photographs and suchlike. I use my own website to host photos, but the process is a little more technical than a photo hosting website. It's very simple for me because I am a web developer, but for someone who is having difficulties linking to photos on a photo hosting site, establishing your own website is probably going to be more than a little confusing.

Main thing is configuring a ftp client, I guess.

Hi Jay,
Try going to this web site http://homepage.mac.com/austman/PhotoAlbum2.html
Click on the Start slideshow icon http://homepage.mac.com/i/hpti/1/wimg/GraphiteAlbum/btn_startslideshow.gif
I've shown how I uploaded this photo to the forum. I clicked on Album to see the photo at this size. I'm using a Mac Powerbook and OS X 10.4.

Todd -
Liked the tutorial! What browser is shown?
I'm using 10.3.9 and Firefox 1.0.6 at home, and don't see the {IMG html code -- when I paste it into the thread, I see a small image icon and then the whole image after it loads == none of the html code. I'll have to try it on my work system with 10.4.8 and Firefox 1.5.x

Hey Thorne,
That's Safari 2.0.4 and OS X 10.4.8. Haven't tried using Firefox but I'll check it out and see if there's any difference. I have about 6 browsers on this machine for some reason and no two are exactly alike.
editted minutes later to add...
OK, I just tried Firefox 1.5.06 and the image appears in the reply box. Who knew?!

Jay, Thorne knows what he is talking about but I have windows xp and have yet to figure out " cut & paste " where he says copy the url I do just that - with pen & paper, then type in the url. I know this the hard way and a PITA but it works.

Ron, Ron, Ron.....:D
Highlight the URL " select it"by dragging across it.. ( hold the left button down while you're dragging across it)it'll change colour. Right click that and select copy. That sticks it on an electronic 'clipboard'
Then , when the prompt comes up for the URL in the picture window, right click the space and hit paste.
very useful.totally accurate reproduction of the data.;)
You can do it with anything!

My simple rule with URL's is: ALWAYS copy & paste, never copy by eye!
You can add to that with: Test in a browser window FIRST.
It is so easy to make a typo, or miss a capitalization, and then the URL won't work. I break my own rules occasionally for URL's that I know by heart, but also get caught with non-working ones that way -- always embarrasing for a webmeister.
One of the strange things about html is that capitalization doesn't matter before the first forward-slash "/", but is essential after it. And it doesn't matter at all in an email address.
Newbies always confuse email addresses and web addresses. Here's a simple analogy:
Email address = Phone number "on the web". e. g. david@luckhardt.com
URL address = Street address "on the web". e. g. http://www.luckhardt.com
