I once opened my hand to meet a forum member I had never met to go see an old sailboat on the top of a mountain. We laughed and shot the breeze and left politics aside. We wrote a beautiful thread about the experience of the lady on the mountain. I still have the bottle cooler with "Custom Skiffs" on it. Tess had a T shirt with the similar name on it for a long time. I kept tying to associate the man on the forum to the nice guy I had met that surprise visit that day.

Then came a phone call when I got Dove the first person to call me an congratulate me for taking on the project. The same laugh and friendliness was there. Same with the call asking to take an old beat up weekender from my barn. I remember telling you it was not worth the long trip for such a boat. But you came anyway after a long trip in bad weather and hours of beltway traffic to arrive once again at my humble home early in the morning. I helped to load the old boat and trailer onto your truck. I extended an offer to go to breakfast with you. You just drove an unbelievable time and distance to get a POS boat. But you turned down my offer to break bread and waved goodbye and drove off back home.

For a long time after those visits as with anytime I have ever met a forum member I would hold onto the time and think fondly of the person. But with you it was always troubling and found myself biting my tongue many times over some of your posts. Till I could hold my tongue no more.

Almost all of my boat posts have come with attachments of pictures, backing up my opinion on my comments, creating a complete context of the discussion, all wooden parts and most tradtional designs of the 1900s. I live wooden hulls, sleep wooden hulls, and continue to build wooden hulls. A common practice now days, even with the provider's magazine, is to use some modern materials, incorporating the use of components other than wood, creating a better hull that lives on land. So please show me where I have ever condemned wooden hulls. I have more than enough to also disprove that myth.

And I've my own stock of expertise - both about boats/wood and on other issues. I'd be sorry if my political positions make someone unable to hear what I have to say about, say, training the singing voice, musical expression and style (either classical or blues), or theology, or old house renovation. Or the ins and outs of the policy-making process - that's been my job for years, at a high level.

Free speech manifestly isn't limited to one side of the political spectrum 'round here. You're arguing, so am I. We wrote a beautiful thread about the experience of the lady on the mountain. I still have the bottle cooler with "Custom Skiffs" on it. Tess had a T shirt with the similar name on it for a long time. I kept tying to associate the man on the forum to the nice guy I had met that surprise visit that day.

Then came a phone call when I got Dove the first person to call me an congratulate me for taking on the project. The same laugh and friendliness was there. Same with the call asking to take an old beat up weekender from my barn. I remember telling you it was not worth the long trip for such a boat. But you came anyway after a long trip in bad weather and hours of beltway traffic to arrive once again at my humble home early in the morning. I helped to load the old boat and trailer onto your truck. I extended an offer to go to breakfast with you. You just drove an unbelievable time and distance to get a POS boat. But you turned down my offer to break bread and waved goodbye and drove off back home.

For a long time after those visits as with anytime I have ever met a forum member I would hold onto the time and think fondly of the person. But with you it was always troubling and found myself biting my tongue many times over some of your posts. Till I could hold my tongue no more.

So now with your comments tonight the one thing I want to tell you is; loose my phone number, throw away my email, and never step foot on my property again for as long as your miserable little jealous twisted little heart beats. Folla ? :mad:

And he has re-defined his enemy in what he calls a "war" to allow himself to weasel out of the Geneva Conventions.

FWIW, the Geneva Conventions didn't discuss non-state fighters, simply because there were precious few at that stage ... not, I suspect, because the drafters felt it would be fine to torture fighters who didn't wear state uniforms.

If the GWOT is a "war," then you're fighting soldiers ("irregulars"), if it's not a war, then you're fighting criminals. Either set deserves humane treatment if captured. As would uniform-wearing American soldiers, or non-uniform wearing contractors fighting on the American side.

Nope no charge onboard. We swap out port & starboard bilge pump batteries every other week and charge the one extra battery at home. Tidbit is so dry and tight now at this end of the season a quick check on the old manual bronze pump on the CB just make those dry sucking noises, kinda like an oyster stuck in the muck ;)Passing West Point now and I'm hearing a solo trumpet play TAPS.
