Progress on the Lightning slowed down somewhat between going to Florida for Thanksgiving and the cold weather here in Indiana.
I finally got back to installing the splash guard, mast partner trim and coaming.
Here is a picture of the Splash Guard and coaming

I have also been rigging the boom and finishing the seats. I plan on installing the rigging for the Crosby sometime during Christmas.

Looks first rate Carl. Funny, in that light it almost looks like cherry. Mahogany, no?
Good work!

Beautiful work. If only my old #7313 could look that good again. It's a restoration job waiting to happen.
Is that a gardener's hoop-shed you're working in? Looks like building a boat in a bottle.

Loon,
Here is an outside view of the enclosure.

It is 20'x12' (the lightning mast is 27'), so the trailer and the mast stick out the door. The enclosure cost me about $299 (on sale) and is suppose to be able to handle snow. I have a propane (bullet) heater that I use and it allows me to work without a coat. I also hung a light to make working at night a little easier. Obivously, I can't run the heater all night so epoxying and painting require warmer temperatures. The enclosure has allowed me to work most of the winter so far.
Also,
Thanks for everyone's comments, the project has been fun and I am looking forward to sailing it in the spring.
Carl.

Hello:
Lots of happy teenage memories in Lightnings. The only nearbly fleet that races a bit uses lightnings. Sort of which I had one.......
Anyway the reason for this post is that we just developed an epoxy that will work down to about 35 degrees F. Perhaps this would allow you to keep working thru the winter...
Don't want this to be a commercial plug - but saw your concern about the cold weather. Anyway our site is at http:/www.epoxyproducts.com/marine.html
Merry Christmas everyone! - paul oman
