Raspberries straight off the cane, warmed by the sun?
A close second is the 1/3 of the berries picked, that actually make it into the house, with chocolate ice cream....

Watching the face of a good friend as he dipped Clams dug on Bangs Is. in melted butter, steamed over a wood fire in salt water and eating them.

He exclaimed they were, without a doubt, the best taste he'd ever had from the ocean. Said it again the next week when I happened upon him.

I agreed, though I have experienced the taste on a number of occasions.

the wind's on her quarter she's making about 6 knots all the way up to the head of the bay , as the sun drops we send the speed boat in tow , back to McCallum , he'll catch up

four lobsters hauled in by two old fishermen for 20 bucks , boiled in an enamel pot filled with brackish water

hoisting a homebrewed porter and recalling how the day passed

lobster is good.

Now raspberries. My old golden loved them. I never tired of watching him in a patch, drawing his lips back and gently picking off a berry off a shoot one at a time..
As far as the ice cream, he wasn't that interested.. Liked them berries plain, and fresh off the vine.

Popeye's will be difficult to surpass. It lacks only a couple of ears of fresh corn dripping with butter.

Added: Actually, they all sound fabulous.

Blackberries off the old family homestead just outside Molalla, Oregon.

Daddy sold his portion of the property back in the 90's, but Aunt Jean and I took a little walk down memory lane.

The first pictures are of Wilhoit Springs, which is on the back of my great grandmother/ father's property. The other pictures are a pretty little hill and springs on what was the family property.

Yes, I checked the listing - $275k! NOT exactly what daddy sold it for....

A quiet night at camp, mid week, middle of winter, a few inches of new snow on the ground, travel into camp by dog sled under the light of a full moon, a thick venison steak cooked on the wood stove.

or half a small drum with a grate and charcoal.....and half a caribou across the coals, and the wolf pack sitting just outside the fire light range....waiting......splash of olive oil and ground pepper....and a bottle of Bacardi stuck in the snow....and another bottle of 190 proof bacardi sitting on the front seat of the aircraft, the only way to restart the cold engine.....
