Deck Plywood

If I am planning on using Dynel and epoxy over a plywood deck can I get away with regular fir plywood rather than marine grade? How much trouble am I asking for?

Weak spots where voids lurk, splinters from that miserable stuff, checking on bottom side (overhead).

For my money, Meranti is about the same cost, much nicer to work and a lot better looking. I've gotten good stuff from Noah's in Toronto.

Meranti's rot resistance is questionable in my experiance....it finishes nicely but rots in a flash if conditions are right. If its a boat worth redecking than its worth using marine ply.
