I read and article in I think Wooden Boat About a mixture of rosin and beeswax to cover screw heads. Any one have any info. on what kind of rosin" is it the same rosin used by gymnast.
I too read the article and purchased some rosin at a western gear store. Apparently what cowboys use and I guessed the same stuff as the gymnists use. I mixed up a batch and experimented on screw holes . Interesting stuff; if you sand too hard it melts the wax content and leaves a dip, I tried various amounts of rosin and beeswax also still got the same melting if I sanded too vigorously.. Soo the i tried a file and that worked a little better. I planned on using it on my Haven 12 1/2 which I was going to CPES after planking. I contacted RotDoctor (CPES supplier) and he thought it would be smart to CPES first before using the mix; again it might melt with CPES attacking it. Then too I got to thinking about paint sticking to wax and that is not going to happen very good . SO....... I decided to use a two part epoxy for the screw holes and it seemed to do the job nicely. Hope this helps and gives you some food for thought.

THANKS MRO For the info on the rosin I have used epoxy filler before I thougt this stuff would be good for rub rails so when they have to be replaced it is easier to expose the screws.
