Thought some of you may be interested in this project. My father when he is through will have
a steam launch. The boiler he engineered and built.

The hull is an old life boat. It is galvanized steel with an oak keel which needs to be replaced.
As you can see the new keel has been fabricated, and will be welded to the hull after the hull has
been split in two and sand blasted.

Looks like quite a project.

Is that new keel a T, U, or box section? Regardless, it is a pretty cool project. Good luck to Dad - tell him to post pics (even though it isn't wood). You might also want to check out www.metalboatsociety.com (http://www.metalboatsociety.com) , they'd be interested over there, too.
