Planking is atlantic white cedar from J.D. England. Salty stuff; I wish there was some local wood that is suitable... I do most of my WBF surfing @ work so I cannot bring up the Bikini thread! :( Rick

Absolutely beautiful. And another clean shop. I think we should start a nasty shop thread. I am sure I would place well!
John
Looks good and fair from here. Please keep us posted as you complete the topside.
First time I have seen Catherine in the flesh. Why does she remind me of the Joel White Catspaw? The transom appears to be a very moderate wineglass compared to many of the Whitehalls.

Abe, that's what I was going to say (I seem to be following you around). Most Whitehalls can be really well loaded before the transom immerses, which I one reason I like the design.

I cleaned the shop for the pics, it was pretty bad before. I think Rich drew the transom a bit less 'extreme' for ease of planking by amateurs. He calls for planing 'flats'on the transom for the planks, but I followed Paul Gartside's advice and 'boiled' the plank ends and clamped them between curved blocks to shape them to the curve of the transom. John B, here is my AUK, built in 2000. This 'traditional' boatbuilding is quite a bit different, though not more difficult. Rick
