Can't get a song out of my head

I awoke this morning with a lover clad in velvet. Ever since I can't get that insipid song out of my head.

    "She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night."

    HELP! YIKES!

The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.
Personal failures are too important to be trusted to others.

      Vinton-itis

Sort of like Tinnitis, but a bit more on-key. Schmaltzier, too.

Johnny Tillotson? (censored) if I remember the date, though.

Excellent movie. I get the creeps every time I hear that song now.

Excellent? Hoo boy, I'm not sure I'd call it excellent. A very disturbing two hours of film. A really good Porterhous steak is "excellent."

I watched it a number of times when it was in the theatre. It's much better than his later and earlier attempts at getting to the underside.

          Lynch's masterpiece. But excellent?

For a wholly different side of David Lynch see "The Straight Story."

He's an interesting chap who in a saner society would probably be locked up.

Clearly taste in movies, as in most things, is purely subjective.
"Twin Peaks" was best when Lynch was writing the script, but more viewer friendly when he was not.

Oh, I liked it. Blue Velvet that is. It's a wonderful bit of a genius psyche writ on the screen. Lynch's masterpiece. But it's also more than a bit sickening.

The final scene, with the mechanical robin singing over the new paradise is a marvelous bit of commentary on how the people just continue, with all this ferment roiling in the background.

I think the song is fading.

You need to start singing a new song to yourself to replace it. Give Helter Skelter a try.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.
