www.woodenboat.com (http://www.woodenboat.com) has changed again.
I sort of like it. Hope it lasts.

The previous page had a uniqueness lacking in the new page. Looks busy compared to the old...

There was a nice look to the old page, but the new page isn't bad and I suspect it gives them more flexibility to prominantly list upcoming events and other special announcements. One of the challanges of good web design is creating pages that make it easy to make updates to the content of the page without having to rethink the design and layout of the page.
I was somewhat startled because the first time I went to the WoodenBoat home page this morning it had the old layout and the second time, only about 30 minutes later, it had the new layout.

I prefer the old one. The new one is confusing - too busy - too much "stuff"!
Simple, real, clean, 'back to basics' is a part of wooden boat culture, don't you think?

I LIKE IT!!
It loads faster for some reason and I prefer the familiar 'menu-on-the-left' format.

Anybody notice that the Bilge gets a front page reference:
WoodenBoat Online Forum (http://www.woodenboatvb.com/vbulletin/upload/../../) Building, repair, designs, plans, people & places, resources & product search, and the Bilge.
We must be doing something right! :D :D

Looks nice ....but I regret that the directory (the formerly called "nice collection of links") has diseappeared :-(
Looks like it is "advertisers only" information...

Yet again another instance where George and I disagree.
The new pace looks horrible :( :( :(
Way too busy and looks like every other busy web-page on the net.
As Tar Devil said there was a certain uniqueness about the old one. I'm sad to see it go.

I find that the page has neither flashing text nor moving ads.
I find all the links in a nice quiet corner of the page.
(As for the ads - Our host may need to make money. He certainly makes little off of me.)
Ah, yer just a bunch of moribund old pharts who can't countenance change in your surroundings! <grin, wink>
Hmmm. You recall the various threads when we shifted forum software? We seem to have adapted just fine.
I expect we will again.
