5 Ply or 7 Ply

I've found two sources for 3/8" BS 1088 okoume. One source has 5 ply and the other has 7 ply. Is there that big of a difference in quality, durability, etc?

All other factors being equal - such as void percentages, glues, etc. - the 7-ply will be slightly stronger and stiffer.
