View Full Version : Steam Bending Deck Handrails-Photo

Using the sage advice of other contributors, I noodled through the design of a steam box to curve the aft handrails on my Chris Craft. They had to bend down on the ends and also inward to miter to the side rails. I built a jig, and using the photographed boiling pot and a large gutter downspout, steamed the 12 foot long rail for 4 hours and immediately put it on the jig. The results were perfect. More photos will follow of the finished product after this weekend.
