View Full Version : Coming in November: An American Revolution!

Perhaps the most important feature of Democracy is the opportuntiy for the people to radically change the govermnet at election time. The institutionalism of revolution. It may be the form of government that has the best chance of lasting longer than any government/empire in history, so long as blind fools don't enshrine their bigotry and fossilize other than the foundation ideals.
It's shaping up to be a pretty brisk mid-term election. Yaay!
(And fsck GM for coopting/commercializing the term "American Revolution!")

Unfortunately the democrats seem to be pulling in every damn direction at once. Need another Clinton, this time one who hates blow jobs and young female aides (oh, and male ones too).

Prez candidate is a year away. This time around, it's Congress at stake and I think Dems are going to get elected on the strength of not being Republicans!

Don't hold your breath. Diebold will come through again. Besides, all the opposition candidates have their phones tapped.

Of course, electoral revolutions can get physical if necessary. Dibold can Die Bold if necessary.

There's a lot of things Congress has done the past few years that I don't agree with. So, if there's going to be a change, that's fine by me.
I don't expect it will get better, but what the hell, it should be fun to watch. :)

Be nice if they did something FOR the people rather than TO the people for a change.

If they don't do something about the cost of living for average Americans, then I'm afraid we're all up **** creek.
Frankly, I've lost faith in all of them. Both Democrat and Republican. They're all nothing but a bunch of greedy crooks. The lunitics are running the asylum.

"Perhaps the most important feature of Democracy is the opportuntiy for the people to radically change the govermnet at election time. The institutionalism of revolution."
Since most incumbents are guaranteed reelection and since most 3rd parties have no chance of election, the US remains free from revolution.

I'm glad Lieberman got handed his ass. Too bad he STILL doesn't get it. Running as an "Independent Democrat" starting today... 14,000 new democrats regestered to vote in Ct. since May. 14,000 MORE people changed their party affiliation to Democrat since May.Why? To kick Lieberman out of office. He's a pawn, a patsy, a weenie, a spineless brown nosing weasle. He WAS a great attorny general, but that was in the old days. Back when he had some ethics, and appeared to care about the people of Ct. The people of Ct. have been telling him for a long time that we don't approve of the way he's been acting, and he hasn't listened. We just told him that it's time for him to go, and he STILL isn't listening....

Lieberman runs as an Independent and wins with the help of Republicans.
Interesting analysis here:

Don't know if the Dems are the answer ... but it IS time for some sweeping change in our leadership ...
Things have gotten out of hand, and they need to be corrected.
If the direction does not change, we are going to see trouble financially in the rank and file that we have rarely seen in our history.
That, folks will (oddly enough) trickle up to the upper middle ... then the fall of the economy as we know it will happen rather swiftly.
How about that viewpoint from what some here have called a neo-con?!?!?
It is already starting to happen with gas prices ... some lower end workers I know cannot afford to get to work five days a week, so they are cutting down ... this is the kiss of death for them and economy.
Credit card use is skyrocketing for the middle class, so, as of yet, they are only avoiding the pinch of gas prices ... paying $100 extra for gas each month eventually takes its toll ...
I am concerned ... concerned for the first time in my adult life really, about the future of this nation.
And call me arrogant, but as we go, so do many of the world economies ...
There will be sweeping change this year and in '08 ... but it won't all be for the right reasons ... I hope if works.

Are Independents permitted to vote in the CT primary or do they have to wait for the general election?

Maybe me and you need to get together for a cup of coffee, afterall. I find myself in 100% agreement.
To add:
These rising fuel prices are costing everyone. Everyone depends on transportation in some form or another.
I've been out jacking up the prices of our products this morning to offset the higher gas prices and people ain't happy about it.

Same for me with the updated pricing. Very reminescent of the fuel price explosion in the 70's. It forced a lot of good people out of business then and I'm afraid the same thing is around the corner. Fuel is the common denominator that starts the inflation ball rolling.

Brad, the local news guys are talking about how the Phoenix real estate market has rolled over and many of the folks who took out those interest only ARMs, looking to flip the house for a quick profit, are starting to default. Some local bank economist (of all people to be pessimistic) says they'll be defaulting in droves as those rates continue to ratchet up over the next several months. You're in the mortgage business, are you seeing increasing foreclosures?
An aside, the volume of my junk mail has dropped dramatically since you got out of that business. ;)

John-
Defaults will be rather common in the next months ... years.
Especially for the investor who seeks a quick resale ... what used to take 30-60 days to sell on the flip market is now taking 60-120 days. Folks get in over their heads quickly when making a house payment on a home that isn't even liveable or finished yet ...
Up until about two weeks ago, someone with a 580 credit score could get 100% financing for a primary residence ... that is all but gone, now.
Most have raised that threshold to 620 ... more trouble for the financially challenged. It's crazy.
So many folks owe more than their house will be worth in a soft market ... the banks deserve what they get. But- I feel badly for the consumers.
