Somebody moved out to Oregon from the back east and discovered that she's not allowed to pump her own gas. :D

I dunno about her, but it's kind of nice having someone pump the gas and wash the windshield for you. Ya could get used to it :D

The funny thing is that she's whining about it from some sort of free market rant. Oregon gas prices are lower than Washington's (just checked on gaspricewatch.com -- gas in Portland is as much as 20 cents a gallon cheaper than Washington).

You meant Portland cheaper than Washington, no doubt... ;)

I live in the other state, NJ, where it's illegal to pump your own gas. Our new governor thought it would be a good idea to change the law about two months ago. There was such a public outcry that he changed his mind within 24 hours.

Our gas prices are lower then surrounding states and having someone who pumps your gas, does your windshield and checks your oil is a wonderful thing.

Yep, illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon. They enacted the law some time back to cut down on welfare costs. It really worked! You go to the welfare office and they tell you that you can go get a job pumping gas! As long as there are jobs out there, they don't give you a welfare check. Simple solution. And, I like being able to sit back and say, "Yea, check the oil." just like the old days!

Could be because Washington state has around $1.30 , IIRC, in state sales tax on every gallon  Maybe Oregon isn't as tax happy as Wa.

Ya gotta love old Chris G. even if she stole the election:eek: Just kidding , but it's true ;)
