I've got a spot, right in the middle of my right foot, that I think was once a plantar wart. It was forty years ago, and I don't remember it well.

Anyway, it's annoying. It's itchy, and generallly annoying. Is it a wart? How can I remove it?

You know one time when I was a teenager I had a wart on the knuckle on my hand. To be quite honest you don't want to remove it the way I did, but it did work. And this is the honest truth.

I took my pocket knife and cut the wart off and than using the pocket knife I dug in as deep as I could to remove as much of the root as I could. After that I dumped some of that wart remover down in the hole I created in my knuckle and the wart was gone, never to come back again. It did bleed quite a bit.

It's been said duct tape will remove warts, the body reacts to the tape and also the wart.

I had one on the bottom of my foot for probably about a decade. Then I decided one day to get rid of it, so I kept putting the Compound W to it. I think it is just salicilic acid.

The Wart - more like a COLONY, came off. It was black and ugly, the size of a half a dollar, and if I had known I was playing host to that THING I would have tried eviction sooner:eek: .

I do remember being very surprised that the over the counter stuff worked and worked that fast.

Could be a number of things ... athlete's foot? Ringworm (from the cat)?

splinter?

abrasion ...

or a wart!

If it's itchy, it's very likely coming back. I did what Chad did for several years before it finally worked for me. Lots of blood because of the extensive root structure.

Much better alternatives here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wart

Don't miss the duct tape links at the bottom of the page - 85% effective.

My wife had a wart for a number a years ,8 or9, and tried just about everything..Laser, freezing, cutting it out.... Nothing worked, it kept coming back. Finally she tried the duct tape routine. Kept duct tape on it for about a year, changing it about once a week, and it has been gone now for a couple of years, I would not have believed it, but it is truly gone.

Now she keeps wrapping me in duct tape!!

John, I guess my secert was I dug deep enough and than with the open cut on my knuckle I poured the Compound W stuff in and it completly killed what was left. I guess I'm lucky I didn't cause serous problems with my kitchen table surgery.

Duck tape!? LOL. I'll try it! Though I'll feel a little foolish with duck tape on the bottom of my foot no one will know but thee and me.

The last time I was to a doc I complained about it. He was, supposedly, a specialist in dermatology. He dismissed it as a calous. Idiot.

Just because you've get eleven or fifteen years of training doesn't mean you know much. A friend took a fall on skis last winter and went to three docs before he got the injury properly diagnosed as a minor break of the scapula. The first doc, a surgeon, was ready to cut him open and repair a tendon, even though the the x-ray was pretty clear to even a first year intern.

Chad, I never thought to use the Compound W, just periodically carved my toe and the wart and finally dug it out.

The interesting thing about the duct tape treatment is that it gently dissolves the surrounding normal skin; the wart stands proud and is gradually sanded off.
Painless and bloodless, but time intensive.

I know I never would have thought of somethng so practical. :D

BTW when you dump the compound W stuff in an open cut like that it tends to hurt a little.

Chad's method worked for me. I'd read in The Whole Earth Catalogue, way back when, about some guy who said he cut warts out with a Swiss Army knife, then cursed them  (the warts, not the Swiss Army). I tried it without the cursing (or the goop) and it never came back; haven't had another to try it again. Don't recall if it bled or hurt much but I suppose it did.

I don't know about what you got, but I cut a wart out of the sole of my foot when I was a kid. I used an exacto knife and worked on it a little bit every day.

Of course I had to leave the house and venture afield to go to the store to buy the exacto knife...

I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one with the "screw the doctor and cut it out yourself" attitude.:)

Calling the artillery for a wart - shooting yourself in the foot?

I did the Chad techique , not a big wart , 1/4 inch or so.I grabbed it with a pair of needle nose pliers and jerked it around until it began to tear ,then got a deeper grip and out it came !:( I must have been crazy but it worked .A long section of cells came away and it never came back.

Hurt a bit ,lots of blood but very satisfying :D

Chad

I had a Ganglion cysts (also known as a wrist cyst, Bible cyst, or dorsal tendon cyst) on my right wrist for years it got very big from carrying heavy trays when I had to go back to waiting tables.

I had read the reason why they called it a Bible cyst was due to an old home remedy cure that involved a heavy book (AKA Bible) and bashing the cysts with the book as hard as you can, breaking the fluid and dispersing the cyst.

I got an equally heavy unused;) book in our house, The Dictionary :D So I placed my hand on the counter and told my wife to whack me as hard as she could. She held the book up high and , bless her heart, just could not bring herself to whack me. So I repositioned myself took the book and gave it three solid good whacks. Surprisingly it really did not hurt. But it did do the trick on the cyst, poof gone and never came back.

A high school buddy of mine had a wart on his lower lip. He just kept chewing on it until one day he tore it right out of his face with his own teeth - in science class.

Ooops< I thought this was another Bush thread, voting against him doesn't seem to work. Compound W might help, excising him with a penknife, well, there is the Patriot act to think about.

Pink is doing her part.

Man I love this place. A man gets a pulled muscle in his chest and all we can think about is a collasped lung, but the minute we start talking about self surgery we are all for it.:D ;)
