That's what the lowest paid Congressional Representative makes for the 76 days they'll meet this year ($165,200/yr).

The usual schedule: fly in Tues eve, vote on Wed, fly home on Thurs. Guess who buys the tickets.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we limited Reps to 2x the median income and Senators to 3x. If they want a pay raise, work to increase the income of all Americans. I know - never happen. :(

I remember the pitch..."you wouldn't want to have an ex president living in poverty would you?" I was suspicious of the congress wanting to give the good ole president such income and perpetual perks...the real bill was to give themselves the perks.

Of course we (most of us) would not remember voting for perpetual salaries...it was disguised in rhetoric...or it was a special vote where no one showed up cause no one heard about it till the last minute...etc
