View Full Version : Building a bevel board

Hello all!

I'm new to the forum and have a question that may have been covered in the past.

I want to build my own bevel board and I swear there was an article in one of the issues of WoodenBoat describing how to do so using a jig etc. However, I have searched the website to find the article to no avail. Am I crazy or does such an article exist?

If WoodenBoat did not cover it, is there anyone that can provide plans for building a bevel gauge.

I used to own a Bevel Boss, but can't find it now and I thought that making one would help me understand bevels better.

It's just a wooden protractor, akin to the little half round plastic gizmo you used in school.
One way is to draw a very large arc (lg to maximize accuracy) and halve it repeatedly like you were taught in Plane Goemetry. Do they still teach that?
Line off from the center to each constructed degree.
Lay your board on the drawing and extend the lines to the board.
Why bother? Just buy a new one whose accuracy is a given.
