Always hit the head before mixing epoxy . To paraphrase Ratty .There is nothing absolutely nothing half so bad as trying to spread 30 bucks worth of epoxy on a warm day while jumping up and down doing the pee pee dance. It kinda takes all the fun outa boat building . So from now on potty first than mix epoxy. A lesson for us all……….let’s keep building Phil

Why do people always get funny about the cost of the epoxy? I just rebuilt the transom on Grantala over the last three weeks. Out of $15,000 + / - the epoxy cost was less than $200. I make that less than 1.5%. Yep, we had a couple of batches go off before we used it all, but the real "waste" in the job comes in the labour area - not having all materials available when needed due to late deliveries, etc. By my reckoning, we probably "wasted" $1,500 labour (mainly mine) explaining what we were doing to passers by.

Why would you be mixing $30.00 worth of epoxy at one time? Assuming you are using the most expensive brand (WEST system), that would be about a half gallon. Even while sheathing a 39 foot hull with fiberglass, I never mixed that much at one time.

A little urine in the epoxy potty will slow the hardining process down...contamination you know.No more than 4 ounces per quart however...if you can manage it.

It ain't the epoxy in the pot that is the problem it's the epoxy on the hand, left in my case. One doesn't notice there's a problem 'til the next time ya have to go and the zipper is stuck or It won't come out of It's hiddyhole.

Plant more bushes around the boatshed, Skipper. The shed's landscape will look good. To improve the moss's growth water with ... ... No! ... ... dilute water based polyurethane. Better than milk or yoghurt. Trust me I'm a painter. You can be more flexible now.
Warren.
ps, I hope this helps.
