View Full Version : Cold molded or batten seam?

The Monte carlo glen-l is a cold molded runabout and the Bermuda 28 from Nelson zimmer is a batten seam runabout. Does anybody have some close-up pictures of those two ways of boatbuilding for comparison. I read somewhere that batten seam boats need much more attention because of water, moisture flexing the battens etc and therefore the boat should stay in water all the time. Is that true? Or maybe could anybode mention adavantages and disadvanatges of the two systems (plusses and minusses)?

Thanks in advance, L. Jensen

I'm building a cold molded runabout right now. Look at my imagestation pics and see the whole process. Identical construction to what you would use on the Monte Carlo.

Battenseam requires more maint IMHO..
