Who are all these new members with no info in their profiles?

What is the deal with that?

They ask questions, usually on the vague side, without any real detailed info on the vessel in question, location etc..
Then they expect answers?

What is so secretive?

can't answer your first question, but will say that I have asked vague questions and the reason for them was that I was unaware of what information might be useful to solve the problem - not saying that this is the case all the time but when one (me for instance) is dealing with stuff new to oneself (wooden boats for instance) one often is unsure of where to start and what questions to ask.

as to the secrecy....annoys the hell out of me too!:D

Hey, Daves a legendary O and O, he don't need no intro...:D

could be a troll or,,, giving them the benefit of the doubt and remembering back to when I was a newby, the first thing that 'everyone' says about the internet and chat forums like this is that "you have to be careful ( about protecting your identity)"
So its probably that.

but threads along the lines of "what is the best boat to buy/build" are a bit frustrating aren't they.Vague as all hell. A bit of a hint as to whether it should have a mast or not might be a start.

Well SV ya got me good, ouch!:D

Up in B&R there are several newbies posting questions with very little background info.

Most of the questions seem reasonable but, I just wish they fleshed out their profiles.

Again, what is the big thing about some info in yer profile?

Pointy Nosed One, if you think Seattle is 'spensive you should try down here.

Regular gas....$3.39 per gallon

Apts......$900 to $1200 for one bedroom

Utilities.....lets just say Seattle City Light don't shine down here.

A'tween here and LA there are more homeless than in any other 2 states in the country.

Geheime Staatspolizei; is losing personel faster than they can recuit new ones. Reason, City is in near financial collapse. Fire Dept. is in the same fix.
