I have a 37 foot, 1955 Crocker schooner with teardrop shaped, bronze running lights (approx. 4" length) mounted on the cabin top. They work sporadically at best. I've looked around for replacements, but haven't found any.
Any recommendations? Thanks.

Probably a bit of corrosion on the innards, particularly at the socket for the bulbs....if you have one off and wanna send it to me I can look at it, try to replace the socket/contacts and return same....do you know the bulb type that is used? I have a cross reference to most all bulbs and socket types.....send private message if you want to try it, perhaps saving what you have...

Not expensive, brass not bronze, and not teardrop, but you could shape one in wood....

90mm high, Italian-made, there may be a stockist in the US. I have a set (which I never fitted) they are solid.

How 'bout these? http://www.microcruising.com/Graphics/bronze1.DOC
I'm with Paladin - try to fix the ones you have. My running lights are similar to the ones you're describing, and I just reworked the guts. Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can. Easy project - you can order the bayonet sockets from Jamestowndistributors.com and holders for the sockets can be easily fashioned from some sheet copper. They even make LED bulbs that fit ... good luck.

If you want the very best (about $93.00 US each)go to http://www.peters-bey.com (http://www.peters-bey.com/) they come in brass or SS. The very best I've seen. Have them on my boat.

They have a rep in Canada.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and your time. I ended up pursuing bruceS' suggestion of J.M. Reineck. Turns out he's located in Hull, MA not too far from me. He was kind enough to show me around his shop and was able to rebuild the running lights' innards as well as replace the port glass insert in record time. Can't say enough about what a nice guy he was and the beautiful blocks he produces. Happily, we're off to Penobscot Bay (from Gloucester, MA, our home port) shortly. Plan to be at the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta....Bald Eagle...not fast, but a great ride.

That's good information, because I've got an old set of those lights missing lenses that I'm going to use someday.
Tell us more about your Crocker schooner. Do you know the design number? Is she the old 'Dorothy' perchance? We'd love to see pictures. If you were to post one or more on a new thread entitled 'Crocker Schooner' you'd have your proverbial fifteen minutes.:D
Good luck and have a great time on your cruise and at the ERR.
I'll keep an eye out for you if you leave for Pen Bay this weekend. I'm sailing from Buzzard's Bay to Camden starting Friday night (and am already nervous about crossing the Boston shipping lanes)
