Any thoughts of oiling canoe gunwales.

Deks Olje #1 or Watco Oil will do a better job than either Linseed Oil or most home-brews. They don't eventually turn black and aren't sticky for a month.

I use Watco on several canoes and I like it.

I have used watco on interior and exterior wood, there may be a better product on the market but I don't think that there is one that is easier to use. I like to use it as a wet sanding lubricant when you are satisfied with the sandind just wiping off the excess oil leaves you with a nicely finished surface.
