The skiff I built last year is a great boat, but I use it in areas that do'nt have docks, so consequently, I am running it up on the "beach". I realize now I should have extended the keel strip to run up the bow farther to give it more protection. However, hindsight is 20/20, so now I have steam bent a piece of white oak to go on. I do not want to put any fasteners through the skid plate (oak piece) as there is no backing in this section of the bow. I also want to be able to replace this piece without major grief.

Palcement of "runner'. Any suggestions?

You won't be replacing that often. I would epoxy it in place. A narrow strip like that should be easy to grind off when you want to put the next one on. (I am assuming here that you intend it to be sacrificial)

I think that maybe I would would laminate a piece on with something like epoxy of 5200 and than screw a sacrifical piece onto that.

Consider running brass half oval over the wooden shoe (the latter epoxied, as suggested).
