I have installed 1 & 1/2 inch battens in the galley and settee area of my boat (glass hull, wood everywhere else) and insulated the hull with 1&1/2 inch urethane between the battens. What type of wood should I use over the battens, below the settee and in areas that won't be seen and how thick ? I will be useing teak in the visible areas, but the cost is kinda high for the covered stuff. I used epoxy laminated cedar for the battens and had planned to use it for the stripping, maybe 5/8 in. by 3 in. I don't have a lot of good stuff easily available to me but I can get it, at a premium of course. Your thoughts are apreciated.

Kulas- you might consider using the reproduction beadboard from Home Depot. Its cheap, strong, removable, and looks exactly like the old timy beadboard.

Can you get cypress at a resonable price? Are there any sawmills in the area cutting native cedar? The insulation sounds like it is going to hamper ventilation. Is it possible for ceiling to get wet? If the wood will stay dry, local pine or sweetgum might work. Seal it real good with paint. Keep it dry and it'll be happy happy.
