We have just begun working on the boat. We are using the plans for the composite bottom from Old Wharf Dory. The bottom panels are stitched together, first side planks are cut out & ready to go on. I want to use the alternate transom plan included with the plans from Cape Fear. This eliminates the need to bevel the planks. The transom sides are curved. The plans from Old Wharf show straight sides, however the notes say you can use either transom. I made a temporary transom out of scrap plywood to see how it would go together. I can pull the plank in but it doesn,t lay fair, the rear cradle pushes the plank out of line (inboard). The angle they have you cut the plank off at is way off also. The original plans have the transom @ 35 deg from the verticle, the Old Wharf plans are close to 40 deg. Another problem seems to be in the bow. As the side plank approaches the bow it begins to hang down past the bottom of the boat. At the tip of the bow it hangs down about 1". If anyone has had any experience with this I would appreciate your thoughts.
