This might be a bit spendy to ship to Australia, but www.jamestowndistributors.com appears to have what you want.

Slate & Copper in Erie, Pennsylvania stocks Hall & Rice (UK) boat nails and roves, both flat-head and rose-head.

Mustad (norway) is another manufacturer.
And in your neck of the woods, a little googling suggests that The Wooden Boat Shop (http://www.woodenboatshop.com.au/default.asp?Page=580&MenuID=Products/c128/391) in Sorrento (south of Melbourne) carries them.
Also, Marine Timbers (http://melbourne.citysearch.com.au/E/V/MELBO/0029/04/83/6.html) (Mulgrave, VIC) sez they stock them.
good luck.

I believe this is the building at Strawberry Banke Museum, Portsmouth NH, where these type of copper fasteners are still made. The staff showed me the machines and the process of manufacture. Pretty fascinating!

Thanks for the replies guys.
I have googled up some of the suggestions before but Faering design didn't have the right size and Jamestown appeared to only have a round shank nail.
We have a manufacturer in OZ but minimum purchase is 5kg of nails from them which is more than I need for a 10 footer.
I'll try the other suggestions.

Hi AD,
Where in Australia are you.
I am in Brisbane and have found a couple of local suppliers who might be able to help.
Dosset Marine in Morningside and another out near Capalaba who's name I can't recall just now.
Cheers

It's hard to tell from the picture but the rose head copper nails look square shanked. But the heads don't look necessarily flat.

Good luck! what are you building?

Hi Dave,
Rose head nails are not for me.
I'm building Paul Gartsides 10' design #127 ( see http://www.gartsideboats.com/catrow.php ).
Starting in a couple of weeks so out hunting and gathering. Huon pine planking, king billy thwarts and grown huon knees and breasthook. Should be fun.

For Lee, thanks for the offer mate. I'm in Tassie but ex Birkdale/Manly so I know the area well. Seems like all the OZ shops stock Otter nails and whilst good, are limited in sizing.

I did a simple minded thing this morning. I googled "copper nails" and cme up with this site:http://marinestore.co.uk/page/mrst/CTGY/copper-nails-rosehead/
Get in touch with the Living Boat Trust at Franklin, near Huonville.

Bloggs68, Leisure Marine at Capalaba, Muir Marine at Manly, Dosset Marine, Morningside, as posted by Llaver, GlassCraft Marine in Brookes St, the Valley, all have what you want. As for Huon Pine etc try Terry Groves, I think, at Corinna Timbers
43 Scarfe St, Camdale TAS 7320
ph: (03) 6435 1422.
My boat was built in St Helens and the timber came from there.
