Carina is painted, cured, and out of the shop!! :D
Here's some pictures of her set up outside. We won't launch until she's ready to sail, but she's ready to row.

A full shot of her.

Her thwarts, mast step and partner, some floor boards, and oar tips.

The tiller, tiller extention, and rudder. Bronze pintels and gudgeons. (All exposed bronze is polished)

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid20/pbdbf022dae8c4e02d4bd4486ce1e0808/fdbfb788.jpg
Hand made blocks from brown elm and lignum vitae. Polyester "hemp" rope and all hand tied. (Time well spent in front of the TV ;) )

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid20/p44d92d832c644dce11b1a322ce66eed2/fdbfb787.jpg
Some of the rest of lignum vitae was used to make the cleats and other things. No finish, just sanded to 180 and put to a buffing wheel.

It's too bad imagestation won't make the pictures bigger, but I'll update the website sooner or later.

A boat fit for the Tolkins elf queen. I will have to show it to my wife. Beautiful work, you have a great eye for colors.

Wow! You have made some truly unique and personalized details. I especially like the lignum vitae "hardware."

Yowza! That all looks sweet! I can't believe you're restraining yourselves until the sail rig is ready.

For those not keeping track, this is a Joel White Shearwater. Kristian's web page on its construction (by Gert) is here (http://www.geocities.com/sigvardsenstudio/index.html).

If you guys won't toot your own horn, I'll be happy to do it for ya. :D

Wow! That sets a new standard, for sure. I wouldn't be able to wait to launch until the sails are ready but it is patience like that that produces awesome results.

Thank-you all. Kristian is 3rd generation woodworker; he does more than just post pictures. Without his critique and moral support (and the forums) this little boat would not be here.

Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow!!!

Cecil — can I come and play with you guys, we lived at 1oth and Dublin for 9 years, should count for something.

You're going to put her in the water? That seems entirely inappropriate, unless the Museum of Modern Art will let you use their swimming pool!

Oh my! I'm gonna have to squint my eyes a little more whenever I look at my own project from now on... (Off topic... I think I'm beginning to see just how much parenthood can be a "burden" sometimes...)
