I swapped the two-prong fuel tank connector for a single quick-release fitting on my fuel line to the Nissan 5hp 2-stroke. After BrianW suggested it in Joe's real-time engine thread in the Bilge, I was happy to get rid of it, as it was beginning to get old in many ways.
After fitting it, I tested it out and the bulb for priming did not get firm after squeezing it. Hmmm. Then when starting it on Sunday to motor down the channel to sail, the motor began a whistling sound at low rpms. It would go away when I revved the engine. The engine performed just fine for the motor out and the motor in. I don't think the new fitting is the cause, but perhaps it helped expose a dying check valve in the bulb? Whaddya think, time for a new bulb?
