part of a Hinckley sales blurb spam/e-mail....twin volvos is bad enough for unreliable engines.....the fishing boats were burned by Volvo.....but twin 435 hp burning 300 gallons to get an estimated 260 miles....... and they fail to mention...or imply...that the SCRIMP process is patented...it is, but not by them....

Ward Setzer, Naval Architect of Setzer Design Group, designed and engineered a larger and faster roadster for Hinckley’s famous jet boat line. The T38 R Convertible is a true performer in speed and agility with twin water jet drives powered with twin Volvo D6 435 HP engines assuring top speeds of almost 38 kts. (est). Weighing in at 17,800 pounds, the yacht has a fuel capacity of 300 gallons. The T38 R has an average range of 260 (est) nautical miles with a 22-inch draft that allows it to easily venture into shallow waters. The T38 R is equipped with bow thruster and Hinckley’s JetStick, the patented joystick-like device that makes it possible for novice yachtsmen to maneuver the boat with a high degree of ease and accuracy.

The T38 R is a stylish runabout that features a custom-designed, retro-styled helm with a raked and curved wraparound windshield trimmed with varnished teak. Double helm seats, wet bar on deck, and a European style sun pad aft makes this a remarkable on-the-water entertaining platform for friends and family. In keeping with Hinckley’s safety standards, the “Sea Key®” emergency call service is standard on the T38R, assuring the ability to call to shore in emergency situations. And as notable as the design, fit and finish is the Hinckley construction process. To achieve high strength with relatively low weight, the T38 R is built with Hinckley’s DualGuard® composite construction in which outer layers of Kevlar®/E-glass are bonded to an inner skin of carbon fiber using the patented SCRIMP® process.

Hinkley seems to have judged their market right, I see icnic boats on the highway all the time, they're selling more than a 100 a year at half a million smackeroos if you're lucky.

Everyone seems to be trying to cut their lunch, but it's not happening.

The joystick control seems to be a big selling feature, sad that people are prepared to pay 450,000 too much for a boat rather than learn to dock properly.
