OK, I got another keel bolt out of my H28. I consider this a small success.

However, ahem, I have to admit that the keel bolt that gave me so much trouble three weeks ago is still there. Thanks to all who helped with suggestions (especially to Rodger Morris who gave me many helpful suggestions). What's embarrassing about it is that I reported that I was pounding down from the top of the keel, and up from the bottom of the keel, and the misbegotten bolt wasn't moving. It turns out I was pounding on different bolts. All I can say is that they were very close together on the bottom. It's very embarrassing.

You must be Catholic - you have this need to confess. NEVER admit a mistake. The proper line is, "I tried working the bolts on either side of it to see if that would jar it loose." ;)

The next time I need something phrased appropriately I'm going to come straight to you.

Hopefully this small success and discovery didn't come at the expense of blowing a bolt out thru the side of your keel. Been there, done that. People think I'm nuts when I suggest X-raying. It's frequently a good way to go. It can save you alot of time and frustration. Anyway Frank, congradulations. Isn't removing keel bolts just about the most fun you can have with your pants still on? Good luck.
