View Full Version : 101 seam compound before relaunch

The boat is a 1968 Egg Harbor and has been out of the water for 3 weeks. The bottom seams have started to open up so would like to seal them up. Can I lightly put some 3M 101 in all the open seams then apply bottom paint and relaunch?

I prefer to use something soft, like interlux brown or dolphinite.

I have the same boat. Use Slick Seam. It is very soft and will spit out of the seams as she swells.I would only use 101 if she had been out for a matter of days. Better yet, start spraying her down inside and out to pre swell. Then use lots of pumps upon launch. You will be surprised how quickly she takes up.
