After nearly 12 months, the fruits of my labor were realized with the launching of Miss Maddy II today! Although the weather was poor (for Florida)we gave in to temptation and launched on Lake Tarpon. The cold weather and wind kept the lake empty but allowed only a short time before I froze like a popsicle.
I would like to thank all of the forum members for the advice and support so freely given. I hope that I can likewise help others along their journey.
Although I overbuilt the boat and added a lot of "yachty" extras which caused it to float below design waterline, it handles well and is fairly stable. I can't say enough good about the San Juan Dory design (Nexus Marine) and Honda outboards.
Enjoy the pics and the joy of wooden boats!
Jeff

VERY nice! (Where are pictures at speed?) I feel your pain with that "horrible" weather you're suffering with in Florida, btw... Looks just "awful". ;)

Nice boat - congratulations.
You say she is "fully displaced", but she appears nicely trimmed!

Thanks for sharing. It was -4 deg today :( no chance of lauchings in this part of the world lol smile.gif
A bad day in FL is a good day here, and that would be a good boat anywhere  Thanks for the pics.

before I froze like a popsicle Hah. You can't freeze if you have liquid water to launch in. We won't until April.
Lovely boat, though, really nice work. Have fun! :D

Thanks for the compliments and the gentle ribbing on me becoming soft with the "harsh" Florida weather. I lived in Mystic one winter while consulting at Millstone, and know how nasty it gets with the wind blowing off of the sound....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I am heading back to the UK Sunday night and am not looking forward to the weather there.
I've put together an album of building pics, which you can see here San Juan Dory Building Pics (http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4291032711).
Once again, thanks for your encouragement and support through this process. What a great time it has been. The next boat.....................

Bravo, what a beauty! I'm looking around for a small skiff plan, myself. That one's a beaut, I'll give it a close look, for sure.
We're having awful weather here in the swamp, too. Last weekend I had to wear a sweater on the sailboat. ;) :D
