View Full Version : Best Vocals
The other day my daughter, after listning to the hard rock station with me, decided that Guns & Roses is the worst band in existance.
Since everyone has been running this poll thing, I thought I might add one in.

God, They All Suck
FWIW I got into a bar fight with Axel Rose at the Scrap Bar in NYC back in the day. He pushed into the place and pushed the wrong dude .... me ;) At the time I was full of attitude ( not like the pussycat I am now ;) ) and I umm pushed back ..... hard.
You want a good male rock vocal ya got to go to Ireland.

Now Joe, don't be so negative. These guys are great in their own way.

They may all have good pipes - It's the material they work that leaves this non-consumer ignorant of all but one of those names. And all I know about him is his name.

Oh Chad I know who they are.
Why is all the metal music male vocals have that HIGH PITCH girly voice ? FWIW Poison PLEASE there was never a more poseur Hair band ??- Geeeeeeeezus they all looked like NJ Shore Girls. Bleack I saw them in concert with my buddy in college who was a Metal Head it was a fun time but I never ever took them serious.

None of the above. Sorry Chad, those guys aren't singers, they're screamers.
Steven
BTW this is all kinda of tounge in cheek thing. These guys can sing, but they are not the best off all time. The music is powerful and hard hitting even though Poison is a little, well a little to "pretty boy". I laugh at my daugter when she thinks G&R is the worst band of all time.
Joe, I posted those links so that others that don't know who they are can listen to their music.
Chris you almost have to be an old headbanger like me to recognize most of them.
Please vote for the ones listed above.

But the scream in key.;)

Chad I agree with your daughter, Nuff said
Come on Joe, you really think that Akon and Young Jeezy are better than Guns 'n Roses?;)

Heh. I'm headed to a recording studio later today (really!) where I'm sure my performance will make these guys stand up and notice. ;)
To tell the truth, none of your selections thrill me in the least. But I was never an 80's metal/hair band fan, either. From a rock band, I'd rather hear Chris Robinson (Black Crowes) who's got more soul in his little finger than your four guys combined. Gimme some Otis Redding, Joe Cocker, or that kid who sang lead in the movie "The Commitments" any day over these guys.
Metal is not about the best voice, but rather about power.
You guys may have noticted that I like music, all kinds. In fact right now I'm listing to "Soul Survivor" by Young Jeezy and Akon. I spent my younger years being a head banger.
Please vote on the choices above.

I think Steven Tyler is better than all of them.

Does anybody here have an idea why Metal-Bands and Rap-stars tend to use german-types?
And then can anybody teach them to use that typeface correctly. There are for instance capital letters and minuscles. To use just the capital letter is just wrong - like a spelling mistake.
I agree, John. I'd also add Rob Thomas to any list of popular singers with great pipes and musicianship.
Jeez, you guys are no fun today. I list 4 singers with voices that are raw and edgy and nobody wants to vote. I choice these 4 just because their singing voice is questionable and kinda as a joke. I know they don't have the best vocal talent out there, but they are fun to listen too.
Just trying to have a little fun this morning.

I voted for Axel. Although I can't stand him as a person, {he abused his model girlfriend Stephanie Seymore} I always like Guns and Roses as a band.
My favorite Rock singer would have to be Eddie Vedder.

I think Axl is a "girly-man" as proven by Tommy Hilfiger ( the underwear queen) who was slapping him around like a prison b!tch the other night. But when he is sober and focused he has the best voice of the four

i like the power rocker dude who's tour bus went over a 700 foot cliff and burst into flames because the driver fell asleep
he was pretty good
How can you pol for power-rock vocalists and not include ol' leatherlungs hisself, Roger Daltry?
You are so correct, but he is in a league above these guys. I should have included The Who in my other thread. But would they really be considered metal?
