I just wanted to let you folks know that I found marine grade plywood down here in Southern Mexico and have begun to build a QE16 stitch and tape boat designed by Paul Kanuit. I will search on this forum for how to post pictures and put some up. I am mightily impressed by the strenght of the box beam stitch and tape plywood construction. It has gone together quickly so far, with some help from a good friend who flew down from the states we have taken it from 8 sheets of plywood to a boat that is almost ready for painting in less than two weeks of maybe 2 hours a day work. The other times we are out sailing my boat or snorkeling in Laguna Bacalar (google it). Anyway just wanted to say hi and let you guys know why I have not been on line for a while. And did you see the shipsaw that guy made? Fantastic.

Well its good to see you sparkling and loving life in Mexico

So to pictures... so somewhere in this forum is a discription made by Norm Messinger ages ago which Im too knackered to go find so...

okay you need an album from say Imagestation or Photobucket (free sites) you simply upload the pics to the album as they describe (note this is easy as) then

You open up a reply box here and insert into the text box... go back to Imagestation right click on the pic you want to put here go to properties highlight the line that says "http://www... lottsagobbledegook.img" copy it... come back here insert your curser into the middle of the img thing click paste and then type whatever you wish to type hit the submit reply button and whallah! all done  others may do it differently but thats the only way I can get the ruddy thing to work!

And then we can have a gander at what youve been upta! ;)

Launched the QE 16 by Paul Kanuit on October, 14, 2008. I took it down out of the sling in the rafters on the 29th of Sept, 2008 and had it ready for the motor to be installed on the 12th. This boat is really quick to build. I had faired and painted the hull back in June or 2006 and then had to put it aside. Did no work to it. Just moved it around a lot until I hung it from the rafters in the shop.
"dos amigos" Handles like a dream. I am able to do 20mph on the GPS with a honda 4 stroke 25hp. She lifts on to plane effortlessly and I can back off on the throttle and she will continue to plane until I get down to 12mph then she drops off. With three adults on her she moves along at 18mph. Turns nice, no bouncing, just a nice pulsing up and down. My friends says she rides like a lexus.
I will post pictures and a link to a video soon.
I also build this boat a little heavier than the plans called for I used 9mm where his plans called for 6mm.
I have a huge Grin on my face this week.
Thanks for all the support and advice on this forum.

She Floats!!

On her lines too. Trims out level. This skiff is not tippy. Very stable at rest or at speed.

Originally the design called for a tiller handled outboard, but I don't like those sit at the back boats. So I redesigned it for a center console.
