Yet another Bush presidency?

ORLANDO, Fla. - President Bush suggested Wednesday that he’d like to see his family’s White House legacy continue, perhaps with his younger brother Jeb as the chief executive.

The president said Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is well-suited for another office and would make “a great president.”

“I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that’s his intention or not,” Bush said in an interview with Florida reporters, according to an account on the St. Petersburg Times Web site.

Nicholas Carey

My understanding was that Jeb considered himself the "heir apparent" to HM Poppy Bush and was...miffed  ...when the drunkard idiot brother got the nod.

And even more miffed   when he had to perform his filial duty and pull the shrub's bacon out of the fire in Florida in 2000.

All we can hope is the US electorate will have learned something about what a last name means :D

Not holding my breath though.

Norman Bernstein

Well, ya gotta admit, he'd be an improvement over the shrub. He can speak passable English :p

Yeah, but he learned his morals from the same momma.

HAH! Now, suddenly, facts are slurs! :D

Phillip Allen

now you sound like lbj5

"he'd be an improvement over the shrub" ...Surly an intended slur

"drunkard idiot"

Meerkat
05-10-2006, 04:09 PM
So it's not a fact that Geo and Jeb had the same momma? Hmmm.... now that something that could get juicy! :D

Norman Bernstein
05-10-2006, 04:11 PM
(and these are the guys who claim they don't like slurs)

Phillip, you're not a stupid guy. I'm sure you know the difference between a disgusting and offensive racial slur and a denigrating adjective.... Lord knows, you've used the latter enough (we all have!).

Still, I wonder just what in the world would motivate you to actually defend the use of a racial slur... and, if you're not defending it, attacking the people who are justifiably offended by racial slurs?

Could it be that you simply 'hate' liberals? Hmm... that can't apply to me, since I'm not a liberal..... :D

Phillip Allen
05-10-2006, 04:15 PM
"...US electorate will have learned something about what a last name means"

I hear the Arabs are killing each other over last names...you have a strange ambition.

Phillip Allen
05-10-2006, 04:16 PM
I don't think I'll allow the double standard for a while...perhaps some will learn something

Nicholas Carey
05-10-2006, 04:17 PM

"drunkard idiot"Ummm..."drunkard idiot brother" was my phrase :D

So, if you're a nigro and someone uses a denigrating slur upon you, does that mean you're no longer a nigro? ;) :D

Phillip Allen
05-10-2006, 04:18 PM
Norman, can you expound on the difference between a racial slur and a surname slur?

Norman Bernstein
05-10-2006, 04:26 PM
Norman, can you expound on the difference between a racial slur and a surname slur?

If I had to explain it to you, Phillip, you obviously wouldn't get it.

I'm of course rather curious to know just what sorts of social and professional circles you circulate in... where the casual use of racial epithets is accepted. Since you somehow don't think there's anything wrong with using that kind of thing here in the bilge, one would only assume that you use such words commonly, in every day life.... you'd call a Mexican immigrant a 'burrito eater' to his face? Maybe call a black guy a 'nigger'? (I wouldn't suggest it, if you value the profile of your nose... but hey, that's just me).

Maybe you don't use racial slurs in everyday life... it still makes one wonder why you'd adopt the utterly ludicrous and disingenuous tactic of trying to weasel out of accepting responsibility here, by making completely invalid comparisons to political speech.... but, then again, I've seen pretty much everything and anything here in the bilge.... crazy lunatics, guys who don't think their lives are worth $5,000, and so on.... so not much really surprises me anymore.

Phillip Allen
05-10-2006, 04:36 PM
A racial slur denigrates that entire race
A surname slur denigrates all of that surname
Any slur denigrates someone
Denigration seems to be the operative word here.

Hey guys, be serious and quit the nit-picking about racial slurs, etc. . I'm sure we can ALL agree that another BUSHIE in the white house would probably be the end of American as a nation.

05-10-2006, 04:56 PM
Interesting, it would seem as if norm and a few others do not approve of the leadership and policies of our current commander in chief and president Mr. Bush. It also seems as if there are those that think another Bush in the white house will doom this country.

So what policies do you dissaprove of and are there any of Mr Bush's policies that you do approve of?

Appearantly you agree with and approve of his policy of open and unsecured borders allowing illegal MEXICAN NATIONALS to infiltrate our country...Is this so...???

Gee I didn't know that G.W.B. was a avid bicycyle rider, that does shed a whole new light on the subject.
What type of bike does he ride?

LeeG

I think it's a Trek mtn. bike. He should try out a Specialized Tri-Cross for the dirt roads at the ranch.

And he has a sense of humor.....that is good, but on the other hand bill clinton also had a sense of humor....but i don't think hillary has much of a sense of humor...she sure wasn't laughing about some of the things bill was laughing at....or at least that is my take.

Ummm..."drunkard idiot brother" was my phrase :D

I had lunch with a group of people today.

One of the women related that her girlfriend went to school with GW Bush in Texas -- that her friend had double-dated with Dubya and his date a number of times.

Girlfriend's take on Dubya, "He sure is different today. When I knew him he was a pot-smoking slacker."

It is a small world....

RonW

This thread sure has gotten off base. I am sure no one meant to blow norm;s thread up because they don't agree with the subject matter, as is so often done in the bilge.....

Maybe we should apologize to norm, and get the thread back on track..let's see...

A BUSH DYNASTY ? CRIPES....!

O.K. suppose bush 3 doesn't get elected, and hillary does.let's just pretend for a while...
What do you guys think the chances are of monica lewinsky getting her old job back are.....Hey hillary is going to be busy running the country, and a little support in the wings might be needed..

The point is that just 'cause somebody's daddy/brother/husband/etc. was President doesn't mean that they'll make a great (or even mediocre, for that matter) President.

As we've seen, the ability to be even an average President isn't inherited; it doesn't with the family, surname or DNA. It lies with the In-duh-vidual (http://www.dilbert.com/)'s own innate talents.

That doesn't sound anything like what I would say.

If you have a problem with something I said, you can take it up with me.

If you have a problem with something someone else said, LEAVE ME OUT OF IT!

I won't be held to answer for someone else's comments just because you hold the baseless opinion that it might be similar to something I might have said.

George bush has had a lot of desires since he became president. Except for endless war, tax cuts ( even amoron could get that thru' congress)and making sure that his friends get a firm grip on the federal tit, he hasn't been able to bring anything else home. And the war has poisoned the well for anyone else named Bush who desires the presidency.

I think ya need to think about that Meer. If one candidate is "easy" to defeat, you get the opposing candidate of lesser quality and not better...kinda like what happened when Kerry ran...a better choice would have made Republicans easy to defeat...

we need a monarchy

Have I ever got a deal for you ;

Low mileage gen-you-ine royalty, complete with history and antecedents - some with charitable connections.

Full range of ages and sexes available.

Priced to fit your budget.

Why have a pretender when you could have the real thing.

That "art" work that showed all the linkages between the Bush/Walker clan and the mover and shakers of the world? The "artist" that committed "suicide"? Anyway, I can't remember who that was. We did a thread on it long ago.

So, I for one, won't be even a little bit surprised if we start to hear more and more about Jeb.
