Just thought I'd raise awareness for the 2006 Shipyard School Raid from Gabriola Is, B.C. to Port Townsend. It will be this year September 1-7 (arrives in time to attend the Festival), and entries are now open. I've already entered the Navigator! I must be crazy, but this is going to be lots of fun. I wanted other forumites who are interested in small boat cruises to have a good chance at this. I'm going less for the racing and more for the fun.

What fun! Didn't see the rules stating minimum length, but I dimly recall Gary writing something about it in his TSCA writeup.

Oh it's fun all right, ask any of the previous victims...er...participants!

If you click on the "About" section of the site you will find some general requirements. Length is roughly between 15' and 26' but I get final decision on who or what participates.

Last year Gary Powell sailed and rowed his 16' Swampscott dory as the smallest entry. It was tough for him partially through being alone in the boat and having to do everything, also it's a small and very tender 16' to carry gear for a week in. But he made good use of his oars and sliding seat, and finished just short of third place.

My best to all, Tad

Tad,
Will you be coming to Deer Hbr again? If so Barrett, I look forward to seeing your pathfinder.

Hi Bill, nice shot of a pretty place.

The Shipyard Raid 2006 will be in Deer Harbour on Tuesday, September 5th. We will make the short leg down from Jones Island in the morning and take the afternoon off so Raiders can take part in the Deer Harbour Rendezvous. Deer Harbour has a rowing race Tuesday afternoon and some folks will surely take part in that.

Myself, I like just trying to take it easy and getting ready for the big Salmon Barbie in the evening. A wonderfull place for a fine little party with lots of wooden boats thrown in!

Stop tormenting me!

;0 )

My boat is too small, I can't row that far, I'll surely drown if I try it.

So there....

(but I wanna go!)
