A simple question to which I have not found an answer. After paying seams (below the water line) with linseed oil putty mixed with red lead is it OK to prime straight away. I assume if I were to use a red lead based primer this would be OK, but what about other oil based primers. Would the linseed oil in the putty react with the primer if painted on straight away or should I wait a while? The reason I ask this question is that the container in which the linseed oil putty is supplied in suggests waiting 2 weeks before painting but not more then 4 weeks. I assume this would have been directed at a window glazer prior to application of house paint. Thanks in advance.

I think you want it to "skin over" so your brush is not pulling putty out of the seam.
