He's turned out to be such a sweet dog! Very gentle, quiet and bidable! He learned to walk on a leash in only 2 days (2 short sessions).
He's gotten to the point that when other people hold him (the little magnet!), he keeps looking at me and wanting to be back with me.
He comes when called pretty well and is content to sit at my feet when I need to keep an eye on him!
I feel lucky to have gotten such a good dog! (It pains me all the more when I consider Chad's unfortunate experience! :()

Cool news Dave.
I just got home after being gone for 4 days and Chancie refuses to leave my side. Too bad I have to be gone on business again tomorrow. He's going to hate it when I have to be away almost the entire month of June. At least my room mate loves animals.

Yeah, well if anyone wants a spoiled dog, just have Claudia pet sit. I've got a 65 lb lap dog impeding my typing at the moment ...

My roomate lets Chancie have whatever he wants (as long as it's not dangerous). It's like a child playing the two parents against each other.

Good to hear, David. Work with him now. Learn the discipline in yourself about dog mind, from the monk books and from watching and listening. This is an important time for Kip. He sounds bright. Some dogs aren't.
Work with him for short periods and then let him be a silly puppy. I think at that age about ten minutes is a good training session time.
Always praise and treat when he does well. They want to please.
It's good stuff. You'll make mistakes, but dogs are pretty cool, they forgive and take up the good again if you give them a chance. But the habits you teach now will be with him, so do well.
He's undoubtedly so cute that you'll spoil him. That's okay. Dogs are meant to be spoiled a bit. They give us so much they deserve a little spoiling. When not in training mode, let the good times roll. They love play and silliness and treats for no reason.
I'm glad you and Kip have found each other.
P.S. A good thing to do, when not training, is to get down on all fours and interact. Especially for a small dog, a human with their height is automatically a little intimidating. Lower yourself, get down and look him in the eye. Rustle around a little in dog world. They like that.

My favorite times with Walker is when I play with him like a dog: on all fours, nuzzling his neck, 'wrestling' with him..It's the COOLEST;)

Good , then he has regained his permission to come aboard Tidbit :D :D :D
Dave, I am happy for you. I'm glad he is fitting in well and I hope you have many years of enjoyment.
About our situation, we plan on going back to the breeder after we get back from Gulf Shores. He has been real nice and helpful. He took Baby back and promised to find her a good home. He also promised us a free puppy out of the next litter. He also will probably not breed the dog that Baby came out of again. He is worried about maybe being potential problems.
So all is not lost, the kid will get her a new dog.

Chad
Try to meet both parents if possible. Get an idea as to what to expect.
I'm really glad the breeder is making good on ummm...this entire episode.
Good luck.
