Anyone have information on weaving a widowmaker. Have a seven foot bowsprit that the wife is reluctant to climb out on to tend the jib.

Are you attached to this wife? You might could find one that doesn't need the widowmaker and save you some work...

The widow maker is the bowsprit. The netting you want I believe is called the mancatcher. Seems obvious enough. Pick up a book on netting or dig around online. Hervey Garret Smith's Marlinspije sailor talks a bit about it. You'd have to addapt some to get what you're looking for but a good book dedicated to netting is where I'd start.

I have one on my boat. It actually is comforting when going out to tie up the jib. It is also useful as it catches the jib when you drop it.
