Sure I need a keel member for a coaster say ten by 12 (I can take it down to final dimentions) Some frame stock 4x4 say.......1000 linear feet and throw in the deck beams while you're at it. I knew you forumites were kind but offering to provide my timber and mill it in exchange for a saw blade. you guys rock

that's a big chunk of wood for the keel...I don't think you will find a piece of Osage that big in one piece....and it's a bit heavy for all the frames and deck beams....even laminated.....

I was emailing back and forth with Bill Peterson on the design. Asked himn about laminating or no, steam bending or no etc. He said get a container of white oak and do the whole thing of W/O. Laminate the keel and frames. Now if I could only find some W/O in great quantities and cheap I'd be set to go. I plan on going the bronze frame and hanging knee rout in the hopes of cutting some weight. I like a heavy solid boat so I'm not trying to get her slimmed down to Volvo or Vendee weight class but taking a few hundred pounds of a 20 ton vessel doesn't hurt. I didnt' realize that O/O was that heavy.

BTW the saw blade came in this afternoon just as I was about to head to the beer store. Good thing he got me. Now I can make sawdust with my new toy tomorrow.
