For any of you whom are celtic music fans, we're unleashing a new bunch of Caper kids on the world. A group called the Cottars is currently on tour in Ontario and heading for the southern USA. They have just released their third album, first on Rounder Records, that is now released in the USA.

Four multi-instrumental musicians - two pairs of brother-and-sister - ages sixteen to eighteen make up the band. They are touring with The Chieftans until mid-month, then on their own for a few weeks more. I've heard them at the East Coast Music Awards in 2003 (they won Best New Artist award) and in 2005 (they won Best Roots/Traditional award), and they are really good.

They have been played on NPR's "Thistle and Shamrock (http://www.npr.org/programs/thistle/) several times. They are very good!

I have to admit that I am not a big fan of Celtic music fan I mostly listen to the show to hear Fiona Ritchie's sexy voice and accent :)

Ain't it the truth. Glad she's still on the air. Maybe I'll catch her on a web cast if they do such things these days.

I don't know whether uncas has ever heard the definition of a gentleman-"someone who can play the bagpipes, and doesn't".

I've listened to three clips from their 2004 album. Two out of three (the three being tracks 1, 10, and 3) seem to be very sweet, but a bit slow, and one does a lot of tura-lura-lura stuff. It's not what you'd expect from the photos of the kids in dancing poses. So far, the third one is the only one I'd care to hear much of.

An awesome band, although I didn't get home in time to go. Very talented young people...
