I mentioned in passing on this forum that I buy bandsaw blades from an outfit that welds them to order for me. Somebody (but I don't remember who) asked me where they were, and although I know how to get there, I forgot the actual name of the company. Well, I needed some more blades, so drove down and had some made, in the process getting the information to post here. As an aside, they also handle other cutting tools, saw blades, shaper knives, etcetera, but I use them primarily for bandsaw supplies.
The endorsement (no connection; couldn't even remember their name): I find the blades of very high quality; long lasting and made to my exact specification, meaning if I want a 93 1/2 inch 6TPI hook tooth in half inch width, I get that. If I want a skip tooth 3/8 inch, I can order that. Or anything I nedd, for that matter. They have pretty much everything a band/re-sawyer could ask for. All for a most reasonable (I'd say 50%) price of what I'd pay in the usual woodworker's store. To wit: I paid about $40 for four half inch 93 1/2" assorted blades, and you'd do better if you needed more than my modest requirements allow. And I think, you get better blades. Here is the detail:
Associated Industries (TK Industries is their DBA)
(206) 762-1211
1505 S 93rd St # D
Seattle, WA 98108
(This is in South Park off 99, very close to Delta Marine)
I recommend you call and order first, otherwise you cool your heels for a while waiting for them to weld 'em up. For this minor inconvenience, you get great quality and very (ahem) sharp pricing. I don't know if they mail order or not, no harm in asking.
