It took more time than we expected, but the engines finally arrived.
We did some testing yesterday and both engines need quite some work.
Not a big problem, just a new challenge and a nice winterproject.
It are crusader marineengines (based on the chevy 350) with a Borg Werner velvet drive as7-71c (1.91:1) and a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor.
The serial nr. of one the engines is 27756, the number of the other engine is 27766.
The number of one of the carburetors is 17059293.
If there's anyone who can give me more information about these engines, you would make me an happy man if you would share it with me.

The number of one of the carburetors is 17059293.
I recognize this number as a factory GM part number. I used to be able to tell approximate years, but that was a while back.

Very cool project that I have been following since the beginning.
Information, parts, and service should be easily available. On this side of the Atlantic, the small block Chevrolet is just about the most ubiquitous engine available for light trucks as well as boats. They've been in constant production from General Motors since 1955, in four different generational families, most of which share parts. Only the newest generation has dedicated reciprocating assemblies.
Thousands of aftermarket companies make parts for these engines for both auto and marine applications, you should have absolutely no trouble finding what you need.
BTW, what is it you need.

The serial nr. of one the engines is 27756, the number of the other engine is 27766. I am assuming you are refering to the casting number. If so, it appears to me that you are missing a digit. The casting numbers are typically 6-7 digits long. I did find an on-line reference, but not for these two numbers.

The 5-digit nr. is the number we found on the Crusader indentification plate.
I also found a castingnr. on the intake manifold.
This is 346250.
We will take some more pictures this evening to check for more castingnrs.

You will need to find the actual casting number on the block to further ID the block. The intake casting number come out to be a 1976-1982 unit.

Thanks everyone for the information.
I've send an email to the people of Crusader although I didn't expect an answer.
But to my surprise I got an answer from them within a few hours.
The engines are build in 1978.
They are removed from a boat that's build in 1964, so they are 14 years younger than we thought.
My compliments for the people of Crusader.

Jake,
After your post about the intake and some information about the carburator I already thougt that those engines would be around that age.
According to the carburator's serial nr. it seems to be a model of 1979.
